Kentucky Kingdom!

We had a fun day at Kentucky Kingdom. I had to convince them to have their picture taken with the chicken, but of course they were willing to ham it up in the funky hats!

Word!

This was the favorite ride of the day...they rode it 5 times in a row! There were no lines all day, and it was Muslim family day so we had no problems with modesty. We were in the minority for sure!

Zach

Zach spent an hour last night sitting in front of my computer watching the pictures. He just sat and watched and watched....

He walked around the computer and didn't take his eyes off of the screen.

A note home from school

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bohrer,

Please allow me to welcome you to this school year. Even though we're already in week 6, it seems like the first day was yesterday!

I wish to inform you of your son's participation in music class. He is quite the singer! We did a call and echo today in which I sing a phrase and the children sing it back. He was one of the students who was not afraid to sing out. A lot of the other children are still rather shy about their singing voices but Josiah is not! What a great addition to our music class! I can tell he will be a great leader and example for the rest of the class.

I look forward to a great year with Josiah!

Chinese American Festival

Today we went downtown to the Chinese American Festival. We saw some great entertainment including chinese opera, dancers, and children performers. We also had some really yummy Chinese food.

Emma Tried out the chopsticks and looked up and there was Indianpolis Mayor Greg Ballard next to her.

Cash For Gold

About two months ago Abbey bought two necklaces from a garage sale for one dollar each. From the day she bought them she begged me to take her to cash for gold, she was sure that they were worth a fortune. I kept putting her off, telling her there's no way she would get any money for them. But, the comercials kept playing and she kept begging me to take her. So, finally, I gave in and took her. She went in and proudly handed them over to the man at the counter and I stood behind her smirking waiting for her hopes to be dashed. Then the man looked at the first necklace and to my surprise he put it on the scale. He said, "sweetheart this one is worth $40!" Then he looked at the next one and he put it on the scale as well. The second one was worth $50! She turned to me and said "I told you Mom!" Then the man told her that some people make up to $500 a week just going to garage sales looking for gold and he gave her a jewlers magnifier and showed her what to look for when at garage sales. Needless to say she asks me every weekend to garage sale!

Then yesterday I went with Emma on a fieldtrip to the children's museum to see the King Tut exhibit. It was very cool. She was especially impressed with a big gold mask from King Tut's treasures. She turned to me and said, "Wow, Mom I could get a lot of money for that at cash for gold!"

Anderson's Apple Orchard

Once the rain stopped this afternoon, we decided to take a trip to Anderson's apple orchard. We picked 1/2 a bushel of apples, a bucket full of raspberries and had apple slushies. yummmmmmmmmm!

When we got home Abbey decided we should make an apple pie. She made it all by herself with only a little direction from Mom!

Parade

We went to the North Salem parade yesterday. There was a cute little soda fountain shop that we would like to go back to sometime soon.

"Look Mom another tractor!" I remember at the parades when I was growing up there were always several floats. Yesterday there were no floats, only one band and way too many cars and tractors! But we still had fun together.
