Turkey Run

Today we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and went to Turkey Run State Park. As always, it was an entertaining day with the Bohrer family. We all started out in great moods and we were ready to tackle the ladder trails. Our hike was a total of 2.2 miles. How long do you think a two mile hike should take? Maybe an hour an hour and a half at the most. It took us almost three hours and it seemed like seven! But, we had great adventures along the way! Josiah kept us all laughing...most of the way. Jim and I decided that Josiah says exactly what goes through his mind. And most of you know that he says everything twice as loud as a normal child. He is LOUD and SLOW! (every time you see capitals imagine the volume doubling!) This is some of the conversation we had with Josiah. "MOM, I found a FLOWER!"

"DAD, look at my STICK! It is AWESOME!"

"DAAAAAAAD! I FOUND another STIIIIIIIIICK!"

"DAD look at MY FROG! It's a BABY FROG! I am going to TAKE IT HOME" Of course I said NO! And then, of all people, Jim said, "why can't he take it home?" I gave him a dirty look and said I get to decide what animals come into our home.

Then Abbey caught a teeny tiny salamander. It was very cool and changed it's color to purple to match her shirt. She also asked if she could keep it. I of course said, "NO!" And once again Jim said, "Why can't she take it home?" and I gave him another dirty look.

Overall Josiah did a really good job, but about halfway through our seven hour, two mile hike this is what he looked like...

Then we got to the ladders and the stream and his interest was renewed and we finally made it back to the trail head. YEAH!!!

These are all of the treasures they collected along the way. You may not be able to tell from the picture, but there are NO live animals among their treasure!
