I LOVE Being SOUTHERN BAPTIST

Most of you who are reading this know that Southern Baptists are awesome!! For the rest of you let me just explain to you how awesome Southern Baptists are. This week the Southern Baptist Convention is in Indianapolis and hundreds and hundreds of volunteers have descended on the Indianapolis area making a difference for the kingdom! Now we could just have the convention and be done with it, but Southern Baptists have decided that doesn't achieve our purpose. One of the greatest things about us is that we believe that by working together we can do so much more for the kingdom than we can by ourselves. So when people come for a convention, many also come as volunteers to help churches and ministries in the city they in which they are meeting. World Changers, youth and adults from all over the US, have been downtown fixing homes, ministering to the needy and sharing Christ. Hundreds of decisions have been made to follow Christ just this weekend. In our church, Hope Community, We had 12 volunteers from Michigan come to help us with our Block Party. Not only did they come, but they brought supplies, bounce houses and great ideas with them. The torrential rain brought most of the 26 block parties that were planned in the Indianapolis area to a screeching halt, but we brought ours inside and it was a great success! Five people accepted Christ as Savior and we have 30 prospects to follow up on! Because we were one of the 4 churches that still did a party, the volunteers from all of the other parties kept being sent our way...I think we had 3 volunteers for every visitor that we had! But that's okay...it is just a great reminder of how great Southern Baptists really are and how AWESOME our Saviour really is!

Look at those crazy faces!
